Michelle Roos
Michelle brings impressive management and "eco"-experience to
the staff. She has a Masters in environmental public policy from
Princeton and has worked for the US Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) for the past six years where she managed a
multi-million dollar initiative. She's also a fabulous vegetarian cook
who trained with a Mayan chef at an eco-hotel in the Yucatan.
Dave Roos
Dave is Michelle's brother and a freelance writer living in
Mexico who's contributed to The New York Times, the Los
Angeles Times, Newsweek and others. He even wrote an article
for the NY Times about the traditional foods of Patzcuaro. Dave
ran a small Thai food catering business in Guadalajara and
enjoys Web design and raising kids.
Amanda Hamilton Roos
Amanda is Dave's wife and has taught high school literature
and writing classes for the past eight years, both in the US
and Mexico. Her passions are yoga, good food and family.
This last year she's been busy being a full-time mom while
taking ceramics and Spanish classes and learning all there is
to know about farming in Patzcuaro.
Mae Roos (L) and Lalo Roos (R) Mae and Lalo are Dave and Amanda's kids and are growing up here in Patzcuaro. In approximately 2 minutes their Spanish vocabulary will be bigger than the rest of the family's combined.
