About Patzcuaro
Pueblo Mágico

Pátzcuaro, means doorway to
heaven in the P´urhépecha
language. It is a city of rustic
colonial architecture in the midst of
impressive natural beauty. Before
Cortés (1517) it was the seat of
the main P´urhépecha ceremonial
center and a place of recreation for
political and religious leaders. Now
it is a beautiful small city whose
irregular streets and adobe, wood
and red tile architecture from the
16th Century create a charming
atmosphere of harmony and peace.
