| Cocucho is about 1.5 hours from Pátzcuaro, about 15 minutes from Paracho. These giant pots, or "ollas" or "cocuchas are made from clay and then fired out in the open, covered with burning logs. This approach leaves the pots rustic and irregular, in an array of colors (grey, red and black). Pots can be over 6 feet tall, or small enough for a table centerpiece. Feel free to explore on your own or hire a guide. |

| As you drive into town, the main street is lined with numerous workshops and stores. We visited Vincente Pasaye's store and workshop first (on Hidalgo street). Vincente and his wife have 4 adult children and 5 grandchildren/great grandchildren that all make cocuchas. His son works with him in the same shop and one of his daughters, Delfina Pasaye, has a store on Benito Juarez #13 (045-452-106-2597). Maria Inez Caro Elias and Mateo Elias Sacarias (045-106-1047) also have a workshop on Hidalgo. |
