| Patamban is about 2 hours from Pátzcuaro near San Jose de Gracia and Ocumicho and is famous for its low-temperature and high-temperature ceramics. We were lucky enough to stumble upon an amazing ceramics cooperative and a world-renowned ceramicist; but there are numerous workshops and stores in town, each with their own style and traditions. Feel free to explore on your own or hire a guide. |

| Just a few blocks past the municipal plaza, you will find the high-fire workshop of Ricardo Calderón and his French wife Catalina Bony (01-355-558-4118; patamban_alfareros @hotmail.com; Melchor Ocampo #24) and their dozen or more associates. We also recommend visiting the world-famous workshop/store/museum of Jose Neftali Ayungua Ramirez (01-355-558-4065; Francisco I Madero #21), featuring his glazed pumpkins and low-fire pottery. |
